Swerve Studios is currently a one man indie studio started in 2022 dedicated primarily to creating racing games on Xbox, PC and mobile.
Currently Swerve Studios is just one person, but am open to working with others on future projects.
Lead Designer and Developer
Swerve Studios started as just a faux company name for my first game back in 2020. This was a passion project to share with friends and family titled "Swirb's Street Racing". It is a pseudo 3D racer styled after "Outrun" and other arcade cabinet games. The idea stemmed from the my passion of cars and wanting to be able to drive my own car in a game, but it not existing in any of them. At the time I didn't know game development was easily accessible, so I stuck with what I knew (HTML/JavaScript).
More About Swirb's Street Racing...
Swirb's Street Racing is an Electron app that at its core runs using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The course is generated using JavaScripts drawing function on a canvas, as well as sprite atlases and functions to randomly and specifically place sprites on the course. The basics of the game were handled from tutorials on YouTube, but was heavily modified to get to the end rusult. A playable online demo can be found here for PC and here for mobile!
After "Swirb's Street Racing" ran its course, I took a few year hiatus from thinking about creating games. Again I had the itch to try and make something again, but this time I had stumbled across some YouTube tutorials on Unity and decided to try again. In 2022 I started on my latest project, later titled "Bump & Run Racing". I had always been a fan of early/mid 2000s arcade racers, but after I finally gave up on my favorite series Burnout being seemingly abandoned, I decided to try and make my own spiritual successor. I tried to document this process in a dev blog, which can be found here.
In February 2023 the name Swerve Studios was revived and officially formed, shorty after the game was published. Today, I am working on a mobile game release, and am working on a few ideas for console/PC releases once my current title gets released.
